SammendragIn Norway, a specific kind of children’s parties take place around Christmas every year: The Christmas Tree Party. This is a well-known custom, developed from schoolteachers during the second half of the 19th Century. This paper discusses how the custom was established, with interest in how materiality contributes to holding the custom alive.
