Sammendrag
In 1902, 1904 and 1909 the Norwegian photographer Anders Beer Wilse (1865 – 1949) made a series of staged genre photographs with the title «The Bachelor’s Christmas Eve» targeted for a new commercial market. They depict the bachelor alone in different settings on Christmas Eve: sewing, smoking and eating at a restaurant. This paper discuss how the pictures are part of a wider tradition of bachelor presentations in literature, illustrations and poetry related to Christmas both in Norway and abroad.Dette verket er lisensiert under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License.
