How to make a Norwegian bagpipe tradition? This was the starting point for this author a little more than 20 years ago, when he asked the bagpipe maker Alban Faust to make an instrument for him. In this paper, the author describes both the tehcnical, the cultural, and the musical problems he encountered when trying to adapt Norwegian traditional music to a new instrument.
