Sammendrag

Kan det finnes en filosofi som omhandler alle tilværelsens viktige sider? I sin siste bok, Kritisk situasjonsfilosofi, utgitt på Gyldendal Akademisk i 2011, er dette nettopp hva Dag Østerberg forsøker å skape et grunnlag for. Han tar utgangspunkt i "syntesen" som funksjon - syntesetenkningens helhetlige tilnærming til forståelse i motsetning til begrepsklargjøring og enkeltspørsmål behandlet hver for seg - samt "syntesen" som prosjekt - å selv argumentere frem ny teori ved å kombinere elementer ved andres tenkning; Jean-Paul Sartre (1905-1980) og Ernst Cassier (1874-1945).
