Næss er usedvanlig klar på hva som ikke er målet med denne boka. Det er ikke en oversikt over sosiologiske teorier eller tradisjoner eller dypdykk i enkeltstudier. Ei heller er den en nøytral innføring i faget eller en beskrivelse av det 21. århundrets sosiale kart og terreng. Derimot er den en invitasjon til sosiologisk fantasi, og har som utgangspunkt de kunnskapsmålene som innføringsstudenter i sosiologi ved UiO har å forholde seg til. Stikkord fra disse målene er sosiologisk(e) tenkemåte(r), metoder, sentrale temaer og forskning, sentrale begreper og ulike perspektiver.Authors who publish with this journal agree to the following terms:
