Sammendrag
Although it is not complete, the house of the Augustinian Canons at Utstein in Rogaland is the only relatively well preserved medieval monastic settlement in Norway. The general opinion is that the house was established in the 1260s. As in the majority of religious houses, the buildings in the compound complex differ somewhat in age, and for parts of the complex, it is difficult to follow the steps in the construction process. For that reason, there are different opinions about the history of the settlement and the buildings related to it.
