Sammendrag

Boksing er kanskje mer enn noen annen sport omspunnet av mytedannelser, og bare få skribenter har klart å trenge bak de sosiologiske klisjeer om maskulin identitet, rase og klasse. Nysgjerrigheten pirres når to grundige sosiologiske studier av boksing er gitt ut. I denne bokmeldingen sammenlignes tre essays av Loïc Wacquants og Geir Angel Øygardens doktoravhandling fra en bokseklubb i Sverige utgitt på Solum forlag.
